August 2010 Welcome (almost) to another year at Halton Hills Christian School! Many people have been working hard on getting ready for the new school year and things are falling into place.New books, new pencils, and other supplies are arriving daily.Soon it will be time for the students! Live Like You MeanIt is the theme that will guide our school year. Each of us has been gifted as we are created in the image of God and we each should strive to live fully and passionately as we seek to grow, serve, and learn throughout this year.
Live Like You Mean It challenges us to put others ahead of ourselves and seeking God’s will in all things. It means being different than the world around us. It means not being “lukewarm” but being fully committed to whatever we are called to do. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we “are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” As always in a dynamic organization, there have been some changes. These changes are an indication of growth and new life and we are very grateful that God continues to bless us with new students and families as many other Christian schools are struggling with enrollment. As shared at our last membership meeting, we are committed to keeping our class sizes within the guidelines that have been set by the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools, while at the same time being a school that welcomes new students and families into our community. That challenge has led us to hire one new teacher, set up some blended classrooms, and make the decision to put one section of grade 5 into one of our portables. These actions are part of the journey towards our vision of having 2 classes of each grade all under one roof at some point in the future Welcome back to school letters from each classroom teacher have been posted on our school’s new website. All the needed Back to Schools forms (Hot lunches, trip consent forms, etc.) as well as the bus routes and assigned times are available (or soon will be available) on our website. Please print the forms needed for your family and return them to school. It is imperative that all those who wish to volunteer at our school have a police check that is not older than two years.Without a current police check, you may not be able to chaperone a field trip.To assist you in getting your police check, you may attend the event noted below.
